Good health is the real wealth
My late father often used to say that good health is the real wealth. And frankly speaking he possessed a really good health. He never took a tablet or visited any doctor in his entire life of 85 years.
His own definition of a happy man was......“.A person who does not owe any money to anyone, who takes just a couple of minutes in toilet for bowel cleaning, and who falls asleep immediately after lying on the bed.“
He had simplified his life in every way.He used to eat a single course meals, and we too were forced to eat the same what he used to eat.No fried food in whole year except one occasion. No electricity in home.No fancy furniture in home
.
He was an early riser, perhaps the first person to get up in the morning. He used to drink a big LOTA{one kind of glass}of water in the morning then set out for his morning walk+morning ritual.
He had just 2 dresses, one for wearing and the other one for washing. He had no fancy for more clothes. We all used to get 2 dresses get stitched at our own house on every Diwali.
life was good,in fact stress-free,and without competition. We used to sleep around 8pm and used to enjoy sound sleep.I don`t remember any day of my childhood when I was disturbed or woke up in the middle of the night.
No electricity, means no fans,no fridge,no geyser,no tv ,no iron means no elecrical gadgets. In fact I haven`t heard of electricity.
No news about the world, means hundred percent tension free life.
When our village was being electrified everyone was eager to get the connection but my father opposed it.My elder brother was very much interested in having it but couldn`t do anything against the wishes of my stalwart father. My father said to my brother that electricity is a disease,it will make you ill.
We all {except father}wanted to have it but couldn`t do anything. In fact we were not able to utter a single word before him.He was the king of the house.
He taught us many invaluable lessons which are not taught even in the best of schools.Though he himself was unlettered but he advocted in favour of schools and having good education.
He used to advise us that if you wish to live better life then get educated, pay attention to your learning,it will improve the quality of your life. For me my parents were my best teachers, and gurus.
I personally believe that the best school in the world is one`s own home and parents are our first teachers. And this open world is a university.Without going to any school or college we can learn many useful things from this open world if we intend and keep our eyes and ears open.
The knowledge I got from my parents is even today helps me and my family. That illiterate man taught us highly valuable lesson of life.Today we{means the world} have problems aplenty and are trapped in a vicious cycle of society and rituals.
But fortunately I am free from this trap and I live my own life in my own way without bothering about the world but I never interfere in anyone`s life.I am very much selfish in this sense.I strictly follow my father`s advice
“mind your own business".
